All Pitching with a Purpose Programs are directed by Trey Frahler, Director of Operations at IBA. Trey is a former Pitching Coach at Wheaton College, New Trier High School, and the Wilmette Waves as well as a Division I pitcher at Bucknell. Michael Jahns, former professional pitcher in the Frontier League and at Northwestern and will lead the day to day programming. Trainers from Illinois Bone and Joint’s Health Performance Institute will split the day with the coaches by working a variety of arm health-related topics throughout each session.
Pitching with a Purpose (Intro - 1st to 3rd Graders):
The goal of the Intro Level program is to get pitchers comfortable on the mound. HPI trainers will start to lay the foundation by educating the players on a basic warm-up and cool down protocol that can be used before and after a game or practice. The protocol will consist of basic arm care needs and mobilities (if needed).
Pitching with a Purpose (Intermediate - 4th to 6th graders):
Building upon the Intro Level, the focus will be on teaching more advanced mechanics. HPI trainers will educate the players by providing a proper warm-up and cool-down protocol that can be used before and after a game or practice. The protocol will be slightly more in depth, and tailored to each of the players needs creating a more individualized approach. We will also begin the conversation on basic strength training and proper movement.
